how do you take pictures of the moon?

A zoom lens and a clear night are a killer combo or a filter to get rid of the sky's haze.

Very important, if using autofocus regularly, is to set your focus to infinity in a manual focus setting. Also a smaller aperature can help too. I usually have the shutter set any where from 1/60th - 1/400th of a second depending on the effect I'm going for..

If you don't know how to do that turn it to lanscape mode keeping the moon in the middle of the shot for metering. A tripod in somecases when the moon isn't so bright is a great help too.
Well hope that helps a bit.
